As a frequent performer, songwriter, studio musician and teacher, Kevin Boehnke is a diverse musician. Growing up on a farm in Ventura, Iowa, Kevin began studying music at the age of 10 years old. He began taking private lessons with some of the most talented teachers in the area and he soon began performing in his first bands. Throughout high school, Kevin performed with several local cover bands, as well as music in academia as well. As a high school student, Kevin was a 3-time All-state trumpet player as well as being in the Iowa All-state Jazz Band his senior year.
After years of performance experience in high school, Kevin attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he received a Biochemistry Degree with minors in both music and biology. As a student at UNI, Kevin studied with Randy Grabowski, Robert Washut, Alexander Pershounin, Chris Merz and Michael Conrad. Kevin performed with school ensembles such as the UNI Jazz Band One, Jazz Panthers, Symphonic Band, and many jazz combos.
While studying music at the University of Northern Iowa, Kevin received many outstanding opportunities as a performer. Kevin frequently performed with award-winning songwriter Chad Elliott, including performances all over Iowa and southern Minnesota. Kevin has recorded three albums with Chad Elliott including two at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. The most recent album was recorded live at Sun Studio and recorded by PBS to be featured on TV for the “Live at Sun Studio Sessions”. While performing as a sideman with many bands, Kevin began writing his own music and performing as a solo artist. Kevin’s first album, Find Your Way, was recorded in Nashville with some of the finest session players, including Ben Foster, Ike Thurston, Eric Barfield and Christian Harger. Find Your Way was released in the spring of 2019 and is quickly growing in popularity across Iowa.

Today, Kevin performs frequently both as a solo artist and with his duo/trio. He puts on electrifying performances featuring genres such as rock, blues, country, jazz and pop. When he is not performing, Kevin is recording tracks for musicians, giving lessons to students, songwriting and preparing for dental school at the University of Iowa in the fall of 2019. The versatility that Kevin has to offer makes him a perfect candidate to perform at any venue, including weddings and house concerts as well as breweries and farmers markets.
